Weber Genesis Grill: Serious Grills

As the Weber Genesis Grill ads say, Grill Big.  Grill Bold.  And this line of grills is exactly that, big and bold.

Back in the early 1950′s, George Stephen, Sr, was frustrated with the options for grilling in your own backyard.  What they had available at that time, was ineffective in all forms of weather.  Luckily he was part owner of the Weber Brothers Metal Works, which produced sheet metal products.  One of the pieces that they manufactured at the shop, was a buoy that was used in Lake Michigan. This had 2 half-spheres welded together.  He was inspired by that shape and he used this shape to create his first dome shaped grill.  Thus the first Weber kettle grill was created.  Before he knew it, he was selling grills left and right and very shortly afterwards he bought out the company and kept expanding the business.  They started out innovating and even today, with the Weber Genesis Grill series, they continue to do so.

The Genesis line of grills offer spacious cooking areas and top-notch features that will make you the envy of all your guests.  Engineered to last, these grills are put through rigorous testing before they even leave the factory, the goal being that they are problem-free when you fire it up for the first time. Weber has engineered what they call Flavorizer bars, that ar angled just right so that any drippings that fall through the Weber Genesis grill, will stay away from the burners so that you don’t have flames during cooking.  The frames are designed with the least amount of bolts and screws that they could to add strength and stability.  And they didn’t stop there.  The engineers, worked diligently on the Weber Genesis Grill burners and valves, to keep the product efficient and not lose their effectiveness.  So by combining all these efforts, they’ve truly brought together one of the top grills on the market.

In creating the new design, setup the control knobs on the front of the unit, in order to maximize the available space on the sides of the grill for 2 extremely large stainless steel preparation areas.  Another change that they made, was placing the burners so that they ran from front to back.  This provided additional space for indirect cooking.  Using solid cast-iron grill grates, enameled with porcelain, they found that the heat would be spread evenly and it would sear the foods with perfection.  One of my favorite features on the Weber Genesis Grill series, is the enclosed cart.  This allows you to hide your tank out of view, keeping the elegant look and they included a precision fuel gauge so that you know exactly how much fuel is left in the tank.
